founded in 1903 when siemens & halske purchased schuckertwerke of nuremberg. siemens schuckertwerke specialised in power engineering and electrical engineering. most notably they manufactured aircrafts, trams, vehicles and from c. 1912 also sold light bulbs and pendant lamps in a distinct jugendstil style.
c.1914-1915 started development of what was to be called the ‘kaufhausluzette’, a luzette for the department store. it was available since c. 1917-1918 and was sold at least until 1922.
around c.1917 there was more development for another, updated version, the so-called innenraumluzette’, the classic luzette type which we are familiar with. it was a universal type of luzette for a wide range of stores. it was available for purchase in 1922, but was probably available some time before that. this luzette is featured in the following catalogs:
by 1936, the lamp range had been updated to include a broad range of lamps, including lights for the bathroom.
another interesting type was the neophan line-up, launched c. early 1930s.
for nearly 3 decades the luzette collection seems to have been in production, but by 1951 it is absent from the catalogs i’ve hitherto seen.
other companies also imported the luzettes and sold them through their own company. one such example was asea from västerås, sweden. in their 1927 catalog (2nd edition) the luzette archetype was sold in 8 iterations with additional mention of a verico variant, i.e. a blue tinge.
